Join the RIVENDELL CENTER on Tuesday, June 23 for a BOOK TALK and RECEPTION at the historic UNION LEAGUE in New York City. Joseph Loconte, PhD, a New York Times bestselling author, educator, and filmmaker, will discuss his new book THE WAR FOR MIDDLE-EARTH: J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis Confront the Gathering Storm, 1933-1945. Professor Loconte will explore how the long shadows cast by the Second World War shaped the lives and literary imagination of these two remarkable authors and friends. We’ll begin the evening at 6:30 pm with a Reception in the Library Room of the Union League, featuring drinks and hors d’oeuvres (note the Union League dress code). The first 25 RSVPs will receive a FREE autographed copy of Mr. Loconte’s book.
