This film explores the crisis moment of the 1945 Yalta Conference, the last wartime meeting between Joseph Stalin, Franklin Roosevelt, and Winston Churchill. The film will unpack the political, moral, and religious outlook of “the Big Three”—the world leaders whose lives were profoundly shaped by the crucible of the First World War and its political-cultural aftermath. Apart from Churchill, no wartime leader fought harder to preserve the democratic freedom of the European states. No politician had a deeper appreciation for the cultural achievements of Western Civilization and the need to defend them against totalitarianism. Much of the story will be told through the eyes of Churchill’s chief Russian interpreter, A.H. Birse, who saw the results of the Russian Revolution up close during his days in the Soviet Union.
